Apple modifies release strategy for Clooney and Pitt movie “Wolfs” amid recent hiccups

In an unexpected twist, Apple has cut the theatrical release of its new action comedy “Wolfs,” starring Hollywood heavyweights George Clooney and Brad Pitt, to a brief one-week run. The move comes ahead of the film’s rapid debut on Apple’s streaming platform, scheduled for Sept. 27.

The ambitious project, secured by Apple after winning a competitive bid in 2021, initially promised a substantial theatrical release. Clooney noted in a previous interview with Deadline that a significant motivation behind their deal was the assurance of broad theatrical exposure.

However, the revised strategy will see “Wolfs” presented primarily at the Venice Film Festival on September 1, with a limited theatrical run in the United States and no international theatrical release, except for this premiere.

The shift reflects a broader recalibration by Apple in response to recent challenges in the film industry, marking a significant shift from its original commitments to major theatrical releases.
