Westfield Fair celebrates 96 years of agriculture, family fun and volunteer spirit

The 96th annual Westfield Fair returns August 16-18, bringing a vibrant celebration of local agriculture, family-friendly entertainment and community spirit to Western Massachusetts.

“We are all about supporting local farmers, small businesses and agricultural education,” says Andy Freniere, a board member of the Westfield Fair. The nonprofit event showcases the talents of local exhibitors through livestock, produce and craft competitions.

The fairgrounds at 137 Russellville Rd. will be bustling with activity all weekend. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and children 12 and under are free with a paying adult.

Highlights include:

  • Mass trucks and tractors: On Friday night you will be able to admire the raw power of these impressive machines.
  • Midway Delights: Enjoy rides, games, a petting zoo, a farm museum, and a craft beer garden all weekend long.
  • Lucky E.’s Rodeo: On Saturday, immerse yourself in the Wild West with rodeo, bull riding and other exciting entertainment.
  • 4-H Fun: On Saturday, during 4-H Youth Day, children will be able to participate in games, shows and even a tractor race.
  • Live Music: Throughout the weekend you can enjoy performances by local bands.
  • End of fair auction: On Sunday, discover hidden treasures and support the fair by participating in the annual auction featuring exhibit leftovers and donations.

But what really sets Westfield Fair apart is its dedication to the community. “We are a 100 percent volunteer-run event,” says Sheila Phelon, president of the Westfield Fair Association. “The countless hours our volunteers give throughout the year are what makes this fair possible.”

Generations of families have been involved in the fair, creating a legacy of tradition and community spirit. Whether you’re interested in local agriculture, family entertainment, or just a little bit of New England charm, Westfield Fair has something for everyone.
