Guinea-Bissau’s coastline and the Bijagós archipelago sustain livelihoods, culture, biodiversity and national food security. Small-scale and artisanal fisheries dominate the sector; marine and estuarine resources are primary sources of animal protein for coastal communities and central to rural economies.
